Meet Julie

Julie brings a wealth of experience to Emeralds, both on and off the court. As our Umpiring Convenor, she brings a strong understanding of the game, a genuine passion for umpiring and a commitment to helping others develop their confidence and abilities on court.

After previously holding her umpiring badge, Julie returned to umpiring in 2025 after some time away from the whistle. With her previous accreditation having expired, she continued developing her skills and successfully regained her National C Badge in 2026 — an achievement that reflects her dedication, determination and willingness to continue learning.

Julie brings patience, encouragement and valuable practical knowledge to her role. She understands the challenges that come with learning to umpire and the importance of having someone there to offer guidance, constructive feedback and reassurance. Her approachable nature and willingness to share her experience help create a positive environment where developing umpires feel comfortable asking questions, learning from mistakes and building confidence with every game.

Looking ahead to the 2027 season, Julie is passionate about strengthening umpiring development at Emeralds. She hopes to encourage more junior and senior members to pick up the whistle, expand mentoring opportunities and establish a supportive pathway for umpires to develop their skills and work towards accreditation.

Julie is equally committed to her own development as an umpire. Having regained her National C Badge, she is eager to continue building her knowledge, refining her decision-making and positioning, gaining further experience and working towards achieving her National B Badge. She believes there is always more to learn and is determined to continue challenging herself and growing in her role.

For Julie, umpiring is about more than making decisions on court. It's about building confidence, developing a deeper understanding of the game and creating opportunities for others to succeed. By continuing to invest in both her own development and the growth of our emerging umpires, Julie is helping establish a strong and sustainable future for umpiring at Emeralds.

We're incredibly lucky to have Julie as part of Emeralds. Her experience, dedication and passion for helping others grow make her an invaluable part of our club, and we're so grateful for everything she contributes. 💚
